2010 QA Inspection and Audit Reports

The purpose of inspection and audit reports is to document the inspection/audit scope, observation, and findings of inspections and audits conducted by the NRC. The NRC performs inspections and audits to oversee the commercial nuclear industry to determine whether its requirements are being met by licensees and applicants, and their contractors. The following early site permit and combined license (COL) application inspections, and Pre-Design Certification and Pre-COL audits have been conducted:

09/27/10 Luminant Generation Company LLC, Comanche Peak Units 3 and 4 Combined License Application - Inspection of the implementation of the quality assurance program to support the Comanche Peak Units 3 and 4 COL application in accordance with the requirements of Appendix B to 10 CFR Part 50 and 10 CFR Part 21 at the Luminant facilities in Glen Rose, TX.
08/12/10 AREVA NP Inc., EPR Design Certification Application - Inspection of the implementation of the quality assurance program to support the EPR DC application in accordance with the requirements of Appendix B to 10 CFR Part 50 and 10 CFR Part 21 at the AREVA NP facilities in Lynchburg, VA.
07/21/10 South Texas Project Nuclear Operating Company, amendment application to the design certification rule (DCR) for the U.S. Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR) - Inspection of the implementation of the quality assurance program to support STPNOC's amendment application in accordance with the requirements of Appendix B to 10 CFR Part 50 and 10 CFR Part 21 at the STPNOC facilities in Bay City, TX. An additional purpose of the QA implementation inspection was to determine if STPNOC was technically qualified to engage in the proposed activities related to the amendment of the ABWR design certification rule in accordance with the regulations in 10 CFR 52.47.
07/16/10 Westinghouse Electric Company - Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN - Inspection of the WEC oversight and dedication of the testing conducted at Purdue University related to the design on the AP1000 shield building in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR Part 21 and Appendix B to 10 CFR Part 50.
07/12/10 Tennessee Valley Authority, Bellefonte Units 3 and 4 Combined License Application - Inspection of the implementation of the quality assurance program and follow-up on the 2008 NRC limited-scope inspection on the Simulated Open Channel Hydraulic code to support the Bellefonte Units 3 and 4 COL application in accordance with the requirements of Appendix B to 10 CFR Part 50 and 10 CFR Part 21 at the TVA facilities in Chattanooga, TN.
06/23/10 Westinghouse Electric Company Facility in Cranberry Township, PA, Assessment of Quality Activities Implemented to Control Use of a Macro Code Used in the Design of Nuclear Island Structures of AP1000 Design.
