RS-002, Processing Applications for Early Site Permits

The NRC has developed a review standard to guide the staff's review of early site permit applications.

The NRC issued draft review standard RS-002  for public comment and interim use in two parts (December 2002 and April 2003). The public comment periods for both parts have expired. Links to comments received and to NRC responses to these comments are listed in the table below.

After incorporating, as appropriate, public comments on draft RS-002, the staff requested authorization from the Commission via SECY-03-0227 to issue the final RS-002. The Commission, in the Staff Requirements Memorandum (SRM) for SECY-03-0227, authorized issuance of RS-002.  The document was issued and made effective on May 3, 2004.
