Design Certification Pre-Application
Review - IRIS
The International Reactor Innovative and Secure (IRIS) design is a 335
MWe advanced light water reactor design. Westinghouse's goal is to
submit an application for design certification to the NRC in 2006, and
to complete the certification in the 2008-2010 timeframe.
Westinghouse met with the NRC staff on April 15, 2004, to discuss its
plans for the Pre-application review of the IRIS design. Near-term
activities will focus on the test program being developed by Westinghouse
to support design certification.
