T7 Risk Assessment: Emerging Challenges and Opportunities
In this session, presenters from the NRC staff and the Nuclear Energy Institute will provide an overview of forward-looking risk assessment activities in the areas of licensing and research for power reactors. Topics will include the development of guidance for risk-informed applications for new reactors, new approaches for using risk in the review of small modular reactor applications, the initiation of a new Level 3 site probabilistic risk assessment to look at risk in an integrated fashion, opportunities to more consistently use risk information in the NRC's regulatory approach, and the nuclear industry's risk-informed activities.
