2011 Spent Fuel Storage and Transportation Technical Exchange and Regulatory Conference

2011 Spent Fuel Storage and Transportation Technical Exchange

The Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS) is hosting a Technical Exchange sponsored by the Division of Spent Fuel Storage and Transportation (SFST), U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).  The staff is soliciting stakeholder participation to serve on panels and presenters concerning issues in the areas of transportation technical issues and storage technical issues.  The Technical Exchange will serve as a prelude to other pertinent topics discussed at the SFST Regulatory Conference on November 2 & 3.

The Exchange will be divided into two major technical sessions: Seismic Issues for Dry Cask Storage Systems and Interfaces Between Storage and Transportation Casks.

Participants include SFST management and staff, representatives from industry, and other stakeholders.

2011 Spent Fuel Storage and Transportation Regulatory Conference

The Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards is hosting a Regulatory Conference sponsored by the Division of Spent Fuel Storage and Transportation.  The staff is soliciting stakeholder participation to serve on panels and as presenters concerning regulatory issues in the areas of transportation and storage of nuclear material.  The Regulatory Conference will follow the Technical Exchange, which will be conducted on November 1.

Day 1 topics include Licensing Program Improvements, Rules and Guidance Updates, Improvements to Storage Regulatory Programs Related to Change Authority under 10 CFR 72.48 and Standardized Technical Specifications.

Day 2 topics include Generic Issues Management, Inspection Improvement Activities, and Non-SNF Part 71 Challenges.

Participants include SFST management and staff, representatives from industry, and other stakeholders.
