Mr. Reginald W. Mitchell
Reginald Mitchell is the Assistant for Operations responsible for assisting the Executive Director for Operations (EDO) and Deputy EDOs in the overall planning, management, control, and coordination of the operational and administrative activities of the agency. This responsibility includes providing the day-to-day supervision, guidance, and direction to the Office of the Executive Director for Operations (OEDO) staff responsible for Communications, Business Process Improvement, Performance Management, and the Executive Assistants who are the liaison with the Regions and Technical and Corporate Management Offices. Additionally, Mr. Mitchell is the agency's Performance Improvement Officer, responsible for supporting the Chief Operating Officer (the EDO) in leading performance improvement efforts across the agency.
Mr. Mitchell has a long and distinguished career at the NRC leading financial, information technology and administrative activities in support of the agency’s mission. Prior to joining the OEDO, Mr. Mitchell served as the Controller, Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), where he was responsible for the agency financial and accounting operations, including NRC’s financial systems. Since 2005, Mr. Mitchell has held various senior executive service (SES) management positions including the NRC’s Budget Director, OCFO; Director, Program Management, Policy Development, and Analysis Staff (PMDA) in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation; and, Director, Business Process Improvement and Applications Division in the Office of Information Services. Prior to his senior executive appointments, Mr. Mitchell served in several senior management and supervisory positions including the deputy director, PMDA in the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research as well as the Chief, Information Resources Branch and Chief, Resource Management Branch in the agency’s Region III Office in Lisle, Illinois.
Prior to the start of his NRC career in January 1988, Mr. Mitchell served on nuclear submarines in the United States Navy. Mr. Mitchell received an A.A.S. degree in Management from the College of DuPage and a B.S. degree in Management from National-Louis University, and holds a Master of Public Administration degree from American University. In 2004, Mr. Mitchell received the NRC’s Meritorious Service Award for sustained superior performance, and is a 2005 graduate of the agency’s Senior Executive Service (SES) Candidate Development Program.
