Victor M. McCree
Victor M. McCree became Regional Administrator for the Region II Office of the NRC in January 2011. Region II is headquartered in Atlanta, Ga., where McCree oversees regulatory activities in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
McCree joined the NRC in 1988 as an Operations Engineer in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation. He has also held many leadership positions at the NRC including: Senior Regional Coordinator, Program Engineer and Chief of Staff in the Office of the Executive Director for Operations, Deputy Director for Policy Development and Technical Support, and Deputy Director for the Division of Reactor Projects.
McCree was a recipient of the Presidential Meritorious Rank Award in 2007.
Prior to joining the NRC, McCree was a nuclear-trained submarine officer and completed Nuclear Engineer Officer certification. He also served on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations and retired from the Naval Reserve as a Commander.
He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and received an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta.
