Tips for Conducting Business with NRC

The following points are important to keep in mind when marketing to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC):

  • Applicable Regulations: The NRC contracts for products and services in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation exit icon (48 CFR Chapter 1) and the NRC Acquisition Regulation (48 CFR Chapter 20).

  • Micropurchases: Purchases below $3,000 (also known as micropurchases) are made using the Visa credit card. These purchases are not required set-asides for small business (although use of small businesses is encouraged), and competition is not required. See our list of credit card holders.

  • Simplified Acquisitions: Purchases between $3,000 and $100,000 are reserved for small business programs and are subject to streamlined contracting procedures. Purchases between $3,000 and $25,000 are typically not advertised, and the NRC generally solicits proposals for these purchases from a limited number of sources.

  • Annual Forecast: The NRC's planned contracts exceeding $25,000 are published in an annual NRC Forecast of Contract Opportunities. Review this document to identify NRC program offices and planned product/service opportunities.

  • FedBizOpps: The NRC publicizes proposed business opportunities exceeding $25,000 on the FedBizOpps Web site exit icon. Firms can register on this site for automatic notification of business opportunities by product or service classification codes.

  • Central Contractor Registration (CCR): As the primary registrant database for the U.S. Federal Government, CCR collects, validates, stores, and disseminates contractor data. For additional information, see the CCR Registration Policy exit icon.

  • GSA Federal Supply Service: The NRC uses the General Services Administration's (GSA) Federal Supply Service (FSS) exit icon contracts and schedules, GSA Advantage, GSA GWACS, and other agency multiple award contracts to meet product/service needs. We encourage you to have your business listed here.
